India is on track to be one of the initial markets for the iPhone 15 launch
According to some recent pieces of information, the Cupertino-based tech firm might launch its latest iPhone 15 series in the Indian market at the same time as the global launch. Some reports from The Economic Times suggest that Apple is considering narrowing the timeframe of the global launch of iPhones to a few days in case the company doesn’t make it for a simultaneous release in India.
In the past few years, initial batches of new iPhones have been manufactured, particularly in China. Slowly and gradually, the Indian market took advantage of the opportunity. For instance, Foxconn’s Chennai plant started producing the iPhone 14 in 2022, ten days after the device’s global release, but it took around a month for the locally produced iPhones to be made available in the country.
For 2023, the locally made iPhone 15 units will be initially delivered to the local market exclusively. After December, exports to the European and U.S. markets are anticipated to begin. It is a clear indication of the fact that Apple is diversifying its supply chain from China. Apple has now become the biggest smartphone exporter in India.
In August, a device with a close resemblance to an iPhone 15 model was spotted in India’s regulatory database. It is in line with a similar event that was reported last year just before the release of the iPhone 14 series. In 2022, a single iPhone 14 model paid a visit to the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) database. Later on, it debuted as a standard iPhone 14 model built for other regions.
According to The Economic Times, Apple increased its sales target for more than 200 Premium Reseller outlets in India for the second and third quarters by approximately 100% year over year. In his most recent results call, Apple CEO Tim Cook said that the business smashed domestic revenue records and had double-digit sales growth in the third-largest smartphone market in the world. Apple is set to announce the iPhone 15 series on September 12 at its ‘Wonderlust’ event.
