Instagram chats will soon receive a new feature
Instagram is set to receive another privacy feature for chats. While chatting on social media platforms, some users prefer that read receipts be turned off so that another layer of privacy is added to chats. It is great since users sometimes don’t like others to know that their messages have been read. This feature is going to be added to Instagram’s DM chats. In an announcement on Instagram Broadcast Channels, the new feature was introduced by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Instagram head Adam Mosseri.
Users can find the Read Receipts button in the Privacy & Safety settings of the Instagram app. The feature is active by default and can be turned off by users. One thing to notice here is that read receipts won’t be accessible to users who turn the feature off. Currently, the feature is being introduced to beta testers. It is expected to roll out to all users once the testing is complete.
There are no details on whether the feature will be rolled out to other Meta platforms like Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp or not. Over the course of the previous few years, Instagram has received several features, including video calling, audio calling, group audio and video calls, group chats, end-to-end encryption, and various privacy and security features.
Just recently, several new features that will make their way to Instagram were introduced by Mark Zuckerberg. Reportedly, Instagram will receive Meta’s AI chatbot that will answer user’s queries. Furthermore, generative-AI-based stickers and image editing will also arrive on the platform. Just a few days ago, the feature that enabled adding lyrics to reels was added to Instagram.
