Meta is continuously trying to improve the overall functionality of WhatsApp. The app is constantly getting new features, improving the already existing features and bringing back the old features. Last year in August, we learned that WhatsApp will soon receive AI-generated stickers.
As of now, a dedicated AI chatbot for WhatsApp was spotted in the latest beta version of the app. A few AI-powered picture editing tools, first hinted at by Meta in September, are now included in the most recent WhatsApp beta for Android. This information comes from AssembleDebug who spotted the new features inside the v2.24.7.13 of the app.
According to the source, the image editor window of the app now shows Restyle, Expand, and Backdrop options. These options show up when you send a picture to a specific contact or group or publish a status update. Within the sparkle icon in the top row, the new AI image editing tools can be found. Users can change the background of the age with the help of the backdrop option by adding a text-based prompt. Using the same text-based prompts, the Restyle option changes the overall image by adding visual effects. Images can be made bigger by using the Expand option.
Regretfully, AssembleDebug reports that we are unaware of what Restyle, Backdrop, and Expand would appear like on the app at this time. Still, it’s encouraging to know that, as Meta had stated in September, these AI editing features are on the road. It appears like Meta is setting the stage for the feature’s eventual broader release as the team at WABetaInfo has also discovered these modifications in WhatsApp beta version 2.24.7.13 for Android.
