Intel 500 Series Motherboards Could Be Launched Earlier Than Rocket Lake Processors

Chinese tipster has hinted about the launch date of Intel’s next-generation processors, According to WeChat public account ChannelGate, Intel may release the new Z590, B560, and H510 through its motherboard partners before the Rocket Lake processor conference on January 11. This news is likely to be leaked through domestic motherboard brands and distributors. There are also rumors that the Rocket Lake processor conference may be at the end of February or early March.

If these rumors are true, then the motherboard launch date coincides with the CES 2021 held on January 11. Hard for Intel to find a reasonable reason to explain why the motherboard release date is a full month ahead of the processor release date. If users plan to build a new Intel platform in January and prepare for future upgrades to Rocket Lake processors, then this is good news and they can directly buy new 500 series motherboards, although there are few people like this. Besides, Intel’s 400 series motherboards should be compatible with Rocket Lake processors.

Through the characteristics of Intel’s upcoming Rocket Lake processor, we can basically understand what functions the new 500 series motherboards will support. Including support for PCI-E Gen 4, support for AVX-512, support for Thunderbolt 4, and more PCI-E channels, especially the addition of 4 channels, dedicated to M.2 NVMe slots. The communication bandwidth between the processor and the chipset has also been upgraded, from 4 channels to 8 channels, plus the updated HDMI 2.0b and USB 3.2 Gen 2.2 (20G) interfaces. In addition, I don’t know what functions H510, B560 and Z590 will provide more than 400 series chipset motherboards. We can only wait for Intel to discuss relevant information during CES 2021 next month.
