Intel Alder Lake 16-core Processor with DDR5-RAM Spotted In Databases

Specific details about Intel’s Alder Lake-S processors have emerged in SiSoftware’s databases. The combination of high-performance and low-performance CPU cores should be the counterpart to the increasingly powerful ARM processors of the competition.

Although the release of the Rocket Lake processors is still imminent, Intel recently presented the next generation of Alder Lake processors in a functional form for the first time at the digital CES. Current atom and core technology is coordinated with one another, whereby the special architecture should be Intel’s answer to ARM processors such as Apple’s M-series chips.

Now a prototype of the desktop variant Alder Lake-S has also been seen in the databases of the benchmark tool SiSoftware. The processor has 16 cores and 32 threads and clocks at 1.8 gigahertz in the base and 4.0 gigahertz in the boost. In addition, Alder Lake apparently relies on 12.5 megabytes of L2 cache and 30 megabytes of L3 cache plus fast DDR5 memory.

Publication at the end of the year

Alder Lake-S will most likely be launched as a 10-nanometer chip after the end of the year. It is particularly interesting that the Rocket Lake generation, which is expected in the first quarter of 2021, will probably not be granted a very long life. Alder Lake also brings another innovation: While both Rocket Lake-S and the currently still current Comet Lake-S processors use the same socket and can basically be used in 400 or 500 motherboards, Intel is planning a platform change with Alder Lake-S.
