Core Ultra CPUs achieve top performance

The new Core Ultra 200S models are now available. However, initial test reports paint a rather mixed picture. While the chips are convincing in some situations and are more efficient than their Raptor Lake relatives, one of the criticisms is the disappointing performance of the processors in games. Now a group of well-known overclockers have gotten to work and put the new CPUs through the wringer.

Overclockers are experts who increase the clock speeds of processors by any means possible in order to squeeze as much performance out of them as possible. This has now also been achieved in the case of the new Arrow Lake series.

50 first places and 4 world records

The Intel Core Ultra 9 285K set four new world records in 3DMark. In many other benchmarks such as Cinebench and Geekbench, the flagship model of Intel’s new generation of processors also took first place in its class. The 285K achieved a total of 19 best performances.

The Intel Core Ultra 7 265K also achieved several top results. The somewhat ‘smaller’ processor took a total of 22 first places in Cinebench, 7-Zip and other benchmarks. Even the Core Ultra 5 245K was able to secure 13 first places in its class. Overclocked to 7.49 GHz

An ASUS ROG Maximus 890 Apex motherboard was used for all processors during testing. The processors were also extremely cooled down using liquid nitrogen. Overclocker Elmor increased the Core Ultra 9 285K to up to 7.49 GHz. For reference, the CPU’s normal boost clock is 5.7 GHz. However, the values ​​achieved in this way do not have much significance for the performance of the processors in normal operation.

Nevertheless, all three CPUs deliver impressive numbers. AMD’s competing products, such as the Ryzen 9 9950X, also set new records shortly after their release. However, since all CPUs compete in different categories based on their specifications such as the number of cores, there is little that can be compared here.
