iOS 16.1 developer beta is here: Apple Starts bug fixes for the new iOS

iOS 16.1 beta

After the release of the final version of iOS 16, Apple is working to fix the first bugs. The group has now released a first preview version of iOS 16.1 for registered developers, and the first beta in the public test program should follow soon.

The first update for iOS 16 is, as always, eagerly awaited. As a rule, this update follows shortly after the final release, so users only have to live with errors, bugs, and vulnerabilities that have surfaced for a few days.

The iOS 16.1 is therefore expected to be released quickly and with a large number of bug fixes. So there will be changes “under the hood”. Apple has fixed a large number of bugs and incorporated a number of other improvements. There are not too many details about problems and changes yet. the Release Notes as part of the Apple Developer Program are kept short and do not reveal much about the first update.

How to join the beta program

First of all, Apple released the iOS 16.1 beta update for registered developers only. An update for end users should follow shortly, but there is nothing to see yet. If you haven’t signed up for the public beta program yet, you can still do so and jump right in when the first new public beta becomes available.

Participation in Apple’s public testing program is free and requires a one-time registration beta.apple.com/sp/en/betaprogram from the respective supported device. An Apple ID is required for this.

Over-the-air update

Once you’ve signed up, you’ll automatically receive new beta versions as over-the-air updates to your iPhone, just like any other update.

However, one should keep in mind that, as with any beta version, unforeseen problems could arise. It is therefore better not to use your productive iPhone but to use a second device for the tests. In the event of a problem, Apple cannot provide any support for the beta versions.
