Some iPhone 15 models appear to be eligible for quicker charging. The source of this information is 9to5Mac, which cited “industry sources” for the data.
The ‘Pro’ iPhones currently support 27W wired charging, whereas the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus support 20W wired charging. By today’s standards, that charging is incredibly slow because it takes the iPhone 14 Pro Max about two hours to fully charge.
It would be a wonderful improvement if 35-watt charging were available. According to the source, some iPhone 15 models will now have faster charging. If we had to venture a guess, we’d predict the pro models will win. That would be logical. The standard models are likely to stay at 20 W.
Reminder: This year, all iPhone 15 models will have Type-C USB connectors. Additionally, Apple debuted a dual-port 35W USB-C charger last year. Therefore, the new iPhones may be charged at full speed using that charger. Of course, the retail box for the iPhone 15 does not include a charger.
Even if some iPhone 15 models do indeed support 35W charging, that’s still a lot slower than the competitors. Many Chinese OEMs of smartphones provide substantially faster charging.
Examples include the Xiaomi 13 Ultra and the OPPO Find X6 Pro, both of which support 120W charging. The Redmi Note 12 Explorer Edition offers 210W charging, while the OnePlus 11 only supports 100W (80W in the US).
As a reminder, the Dynamic Island cutout will be present on all iPhone 15 models. The ‘Pro’ variants will have titanium frames and slimmer bezels. Another rumored feature of the Pro Max model is a periscope telephoto camera, a first for an iPhone.
The expected arrival dates for all four gadgets are September 12 or 13. A few days later, they will be available for pre-order, and on September 22, they will be for sale.
