Is the Asus ROG Phone 9 Pro the Best Gaming Phone in 2025?

If you are in the market for a new gaming phone, you probably won’t want to overlook the ASUS ROG Phone 9 Pro.  It comes with a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, with a big boost to the refresh rate. Even though the camera is the same as the previous model, the battery has had a bit of a boost, with new specs coming in at 5,800mAh.

What’s Been Upgraded with the Asus ROG Phone 9 Pro?

The Asus ROG Phone 9 Pro has a cutting-edge 6.78” E6 AMOLED display, as well as a full adaptive refresh rate. This helps to lower the amount of power used when playing games, while keeping the same smooth playing experience.

Since the screen is bigger, users are able to see more, and in greater detail, at any one time. For those who like to stream content from Netflix or Amazon while on the go, this is quite a big deal. If you play word games or if you’re an avid fan of seek-and-find titles, it’s also beneficial, as you won’t have to squint to see the screen. This is a transferable benefit when playing Slingo games too, as games like this typically feature a 5 x 5 grid, with numbers that have to be matched in order to cross off boxes. That’s a lot of information moving around on a screen to have to keep track of, but better quality screens such as that of this new Asus phone make such games accessible to more players. So, with this phone having a bigger screen and a better battery life, it’s got a solid foundation for being a good gaming phone, and with the ROG Phone 9 Pro Edition having 24GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, you’ll always have plenty of space for a range of top titles.

Is the Asus ROG Phone 9 Pro Worth It?

Overall, the ASUS ROG Phone 9 is a powerhouse, and it’s able to manage almost any regular task with ease. Even if you’re not a gamer, you’ll be glad to know that this phone can handle everything from running simple apps and managing spreadsheets, to more intensive tasks like making video calls. The cooler, which is an AeroActive Cooler, is a standout choice which delivers a burst of cooling power, right when you need it the most. This way, even when it is running at maximum capacity, there’s a vastly reduced risk of it overheating.

But, even with the phone offering so many features, a nice big screen, and a powerful processor, is it really worth it? The truth is that there probably aren’t many people who game on their phone so much to the point where they need a big device like this.

With that said, it’s certainly a good phone for those who want to future-proof their device. With new titles and more intensive applications coming out all the time, it’s so important to make sure that you are one step ahead, and the Asus ROG Phone 9 Pro is a great way to ensure that.

Although the device is on the top-end of what you might pay for an Android phone, it certainly packs a punch, and if you have been let down by previous devices, it’s worth at least giving this phone some thought. Meanwhile, if you have no intention to game or don’t generally use software-intensive devices, you can probably get a cheaper phone without so many flashy features.
