Kodi Multimedia And Xbox Versions Update To Version 19.3

That went surprisingly quickly: The alternative multimedia home theater software Kodi has received a new update with version 19.3. There was an update at the beginning of October, now mainly bug fixes and improvements follow.

There are now also important adjustments for the Xbox version of Kodi. The developers had identified some issues with the Xbox version and worked on bug fixes for other platforms as well. The result is Kodi 19.3. The version jump from 19.2 to 19.3 makes it clear that this is a comprehensive update. But new functions are not included. The full list of changes can be found on Kodi’s GitHub page. We looked at the new update and the improvements it contained and added the most important changes at the end of the article.

Important bug fixes

• We had some difficulty releasing the Xbox version as it had some specific platform requirements for 4k/HEVC playback. With the help of @CelesAtXbox we have now solved this to the satisfaction of Microsoft and can finally bring Kodi to the Windows Store.
• There is also an issue with an expired certificate for 18.9 on the Xbox that excludes that version from the platform for new installs, so this is a good time to fix that.
• There has been a long-standing Atmos audio issue on all platforms that support TrueHD passthrough – we know this has been bothering people for a while and we have now been able to fix it.
• In version 19.2 we accidentally introduced a bug that affected Airplay, which we have now fixed.
• Some game-related bug fixes, especially a controller fix and some shader issues in the retro player.
• We fixed a bug that affected the preview images for seen episodes when the episode spoilers were hidden.
• We’ve made significant improvements to the metadata that appears in Linux app stores.

The media center program is known in the past under the name Xbox Media Center, or XBMC for short, has been under the name Kodi since version 14. The software can be used as a comprehensive media center for files, music, and photos and is currently available for various platforms. In addition to Windows, this also includes Android, Darwin (Linux), Rasberry Pi, macOS, iOS, and tvOS.
