Lab update brings updates for seven FritzBoxes

With the current update, AVM is concentrating primarily on fixing existing errors. There are no new functions in this version of the beta software for the routers. All cable and some DSL models are included.

Next laboratory round starts

Just last week, there was a new lab update for numerous fiber and cable routers from AVM. The FritzBox 6670 Cable also celebrated its lab debut. But now more is being added. There is a software update for a total of seven models. The following FritzBoxes will receive a new version of FritzOS 7.90:

  • FritzBox 7590 AX
  • FritzBox 7590
  • FritzBox 7530
  • FritzBox 6690 Cable
  • FritzBox 6670 Cable
  • FritzBox 6660 Cable
  • FritzBox 6591 Cable

Several bug fixes

In preparation for the upcoming FritzOS 8.0, the current laboratory versions mainly contain bug fixes. There are no new functions or improvements this time. The following errors will be eliminated with the software update: WLAN:

  • Repeaters that were logged on to the guest access were not marked as “WLAN guests”
  • On the page “WLAN > Radio channel > Occupancy of WLAN radio channels” the marking of the channels blocked by radar was missing

Internet:

  • Home network devices with Neighbor Solicitation enabled (depending on the operating system) could not use Wireguard IPv6 VPN connections
  • After enabling DNS over TLS (DoT), manually configured DNS servers without DoT were not visible in the connection details
  • Under certain circumstances, updating IP addresses failed on accounts of the DynDNS provider “NO-IP”
  • VPN connections may not have been displayed in the mesh overview

System:

  • The push service “WLAN guest access” could be changed on Mesh Repeaters, although the settings of the Mesh Master are adopted for this push service

How to get the update

As always, the update can be installed directly via the interface of the respective router, which is accessible under fritz.box. The alternative is to download the updated FritzOS version from the Laboratory website from AVM. Since this is beta software, there may be potential problems after installation. Therefore, as always, we recommend creating a backup before installing the update, which can be used if necessary.
