LG introduces Mid-range Smartphone LG Q6

LG Electronics has revealed new mid-tier series of smartphones with label “Q” the series comes with premium features and specifications.

LG South Korean electronics giant is not only a manufacturer of smartphones and Computers but also wide range of household appliances including TV, fridge, Air conditioners, washing machines etc. However, LG remains behind in the smartphone market for the last few years as Chinese manufacturers emerged globally, but it seems LG is regaining the smartphone sales momentum, according to a report on Android Authority, in 2017 LG grabbed record 20% of U.S Smartphones market.

LG is now focusing more on introducing mid-tier variants which accounts for 60-70% of Smartphone market share globally. In this effort LG has unveiled new series of Q6 and Q6 plus.

The Q series features the same design as G6 a premium flagship handset by LG.

Both Q6 and Q6 plus will feature 18:9 ratio, 5.5-inch full HD display. The Q6 comes with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage whereas, Q6 Plus has 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage. Pretty large specifications just like premium handsets.

According to ZD net LG claims that Q6 has the same 3D display and easy grip like G6, the phones also have facial recognition to unlock the phones. The phones will be available from the next month August, starting from Korea first then North America followed by Europe, Asia, Middle East and Africa.

LG has its premium line G and V series and entry level line X and K series, the new Q series is aimed at bridging the gap between the premier line and entry level line. A smart move by LG to compete Chinese brands in the market.

Xiaomi to ship 100 million units in 2018-report

The G6 got positive response which was launched in February succeeding the G5 in 2016. The G6 was the first phone which had 18:9 ratio display.

Company says that more phones in the future will be featured with 18:9 ratio display including some low-tiered phones.

The company spent huge amounts in marketing G6 and expected to show operating loss of $100 million during the second quarter.
