Material You updates make their way to Google Nearby Share

Since the launch of Material You makeover, several apps have received updates. In November 2022, it was reported that the Nearby Share is the next in line to receive the makeover with Material You. However, Android Auto, Google TV, and many other apps on Android smartphones and tablets have received the Material You updates. It seems like that the time has arrived and Google is all set to release the latest updates for Nearby Share.

Where Apple has AirDrop, Google introduced the Nearby Share. It is available on all smartphones based on Android. The recent updates [December] of the Google Play System will carry the updates for Nearby Share. The recent upgrades are mentioned in the following words “Refurbish the optical and motion design for Nearby Share Android app.” One thing to notice here is that the updates will be available on version 22.49 of Google Play Services. Sadly, this version is not rolled out on a massive scale yet.

The latest updates will be reflected in the changes to the main UI on the Nearby Share app. While searching for any Nearby Device a redesigned wave moves from left to right on the screen. In addition to this, the text size is bigger and more centered. Furthermore, the current preview is replaced by a large share preview.

As of now, the updates are not available on a large scale. It will require some time before reaching out to all users. in between make sure that your device carries the most recent version of the security updates. Do keep in mind that the new upgrades will be available as a server-side update.
