Max is now official. Discovery has long maintained that the new streaming service was created from the ground up to provide users with a better experience. It offers more movies, TV series, and other content. It also offers some additional features, improved operation, and larger content libraries. According to reports, Max’s programming hours would be more than those offered by HBO Max. A large portion of that content will be offered in 4K UHD. The company claims that compared to HBO Max, its new streaming platform would provide eight times as many films and TV shows in 4K UHD.
As of now, three subscription plans are available for Max. These are as follows
The Ultimate Ad-Free tier provides the users with a wide range of 4K UHD content. It includes some famous titles like The Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Dark Knight trilogy, Game of Thrones, The Last of Us, Harry Potter, and The Matrix. According to Sudheer Sirivara of Warner Bros. Discovery, “Max will offer more than 1,000 films and episodes in 4K at launch, and we’ll be adding more every month as we move forward.”
Current HBO Max subscribers will have access to Max for 6 months
Right now, many HBO Max members are worried about their subscription plans. However, the company has said that these members will have access to their current plan features for almost 6 months. The profiles, watch history, “Continue Watching”, and “My List” items will be transferred to Max. Their apps will be updated automatically. However, a manual option for updates also exists.
Currently, Max is only launching in the US. It will be introduced to other markets where HBO Max had its presence. The service will be introduced to Latin Americans later this year. Furthermore, selected markets in Europe and Asia will receive the HBO Max in 2024.
