In Europe, Meta has started accepting registrations for its premium “ad-free” version of Facebook and Instagram. Once more, EU regulations are the cause of this action. To comply with it, Meta has now introduced Instagram and Facebook with paid advertising. If paid for online, the monthly cost begins at €9.99. As of right now, all linked accounts are covered by this subscription price; however, this will change on March 1, 2024.
To abide by new privacy regulations, Meta is introducing a paid, ad-free membership service for Facebook and Instagram in the EU. Users cannot avoid advertisements on these platforms in any other way than this. Users in Europe are starting to notice the pop-ups for Facebook and Instagram that don’t feature any ads.
If you want to browse Instagram or Facebook without advertisements, you can pay €9.99 per month on the web or €12.99 per month through the app stores on Google or Apple. As of right now, all linked accounts are covered by that monthly charge.
One-for-all account coverage, however, is transient. Beginning on March 1, Meta will impose an additional price for each linked profile in a subscriber’s Meta Account Center. If you buy it directly, the monthly cost is €6, and if you buy it through an app store, it’s €8. Users must be at least 18 years old to access the ad-free membership service.
In Europe, Meta will keep providing free access to its Facebook and Instagram products, maintaining the same user interface and ad preference controls. “If you choose to continue using our products for free, your experience will stay the same,” the company said in a blog post. The business is creating a plan specifically for kids, as the Wall Street Journal report previously noted. It will “temporarily” cease displaying advertisements for them in the area.
Like this, X recently announced the availability of a Premium+ subscription that comes with a number of benefits, such as a blue checkmark and an ad-free experience in the app’s Following and For You feeds. It costs $16 a month, while Meta costs €9.99 (about $10.70) a month.
