Microsoft 365 Roadmap Confirms New Walkie-Talkie Feature For Teams

There are again a few interesting looks at innovations that are planned for Microsoft 365. According to the company’s roadmap, new and improved features for Teams and Outlook are starting, as well as general security improvements.

This is expected soon for Microsoft 365

This is reported by the online magazine Neowin and refers to the updated roadmap for Microsoft 365. On this freely accessible website, Microsoft also regularly lists new functions for the Office package that have not been announced directly, so the changes come as a surprise.

There have only been a few changes to the Microsoft 365 roadmap recently, but two points stand out: Update for Outlook and Teams. Outlook is getting a new function for exploring the organization you work for – so this is particularly interesting for users of a business license.

“With the new Org Explorer for Outlook, you can visualize and explore the internal structure of your company, the work teams, and the individual roles,” explains the MS365 team.

The roadmap also contains details about new updates to the settings pages for the iOS and Android versions of Outlook. Microsoft says the settings pages for both Outlook mobile apps are “being updated to be more organized so you can find the settings you need more efficiently.” All changes to Outlook will roll out later this month.

Microsoft Teams is also getting a new walkie-talkie function for iOS and Android users this month.

The Microsoft Teams apps for iOS and Android will probably not receive a new walkie-talkie function until sometime in December. Walkie-Talkie is included with all paid licenses of Teams in Microsoft 365 and Office 365 subscriptions.

Microsoft Says

“Walkie-Talkie, a push-to-talk experience that enables clear and secure voice communication over the cloud, enables teams to communicate instantly across one channel. With this new feature, users can now connect with up to 5 favorite channels in multi-channel mode Connect, automatically listen for incoming transmissions from these favorite channels, and easily initiate a PTT transmission on these channels.”

The same apps will receive a new security feature in February 2024:

“Users can collaborate in meetings on a mobile device in a way that meets compliance standards by selecting sensitivity labels in Teams Calendar. The labels follow all rules set by the administrators and they apply to the users in the tenant.”
