Microsoft could prepare “Surface Gaming Laptop” of the upper class

With its Surface series, Microsoft now has a wide range of products on offer: (hybrid) tablets, laptops, professional computers, and smartphones. This list could grow soon, with the possible addition of a gaming laptop with Nvidia RTX graphics.

If you look at the current Surface devices, you can quickly come to the conclusion that there is actually only one gaming device missing (aside from the Xbox consoles). And Microsoft may actually be preparing a gaming-centric laptop right now. The page Wccftech paints a pretty accurate picture of the Surface mobile gaming PC. Of course, you should treat them with a certain amount of caution, because this “Spec Sheet” cannot be confirmed at the moment.

High-end gaming PC

If this information is correct, Microsoft and Surface-affine gamers can expect more than an interesting device that is clearly at the upper end of the technical possibilities. The device is said to have a 16-inch PixelSense Flow display with a specified resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels, a refresh rate of 165Hz, and finally support for Dolby Vision.

Under the hood, gamers will have a choice of an Intel Core i7-12700H (14 cores) or a Core i5-12500H (12 cores), both of which are models from the current Alder Lake generation (it’s the 12th). The main memory is either 16 or 32 gigabytes of LPDDR4x memory. Microsoft is said to install a GeForce RTX 3070 Ti 8 GB graphics card for the GPU in the i7 model, and an RTX 3050 Ti 4 GB graphics card for the device with a Core i5 CPU.

The Surface Gaming Laptop is also said to have a removable SSD with options of 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB. All in all, the whole thing is reminiscent of a Surface Book with a gaming graphics card. And even if such a gaming computer makes more than just sense, one should warn: The leak source is rather dubious or does not provide any information as to where these specifications come from.
