Microsoft Edge can soon translate PDFs in 70 languages

With a useful function, Microsoft extends the skills of his EDGE browser. In the future, users will translate entire PDFs from over 70 languages into their own in just a few clicks and create new documents.

Edge will soon translate PDFS

The Microsoft Build is aimed primarily at developers. Typical innovations that are usually presented during the event are fresh coding agents, new database tools or the integration of AI into programs such as visual code. With an extension of Edge, however, a function has been presented today that also benefits the ‘normal everyday users’.

In the future, the Microsoft browser will have the useful ability to translate entire pages and complete PDF documents in just a few clicks from over 70 languages into what the user desired. This makes working on international projects or multilingual teams much more uncomplicated and more comfortable. Microsoft Edge: Translate PDFs with just a few clicks in +70 languages

Better results

So far, readers had to translate PDFS by marking the content line by line. This was time -consuming, tedious and led to incoherent translations in which the original meaning and the context could be lost. According to Microsoft, such problems should be a thing of the past with the new translation function in Edge.

The control takes place via a corresponding symbol in the address bar of the browser. If a document is to be translated, a click and the selection of the desired language is sufficient. In addition to the translation, the browser also creates a new PDF document with the translated content on request.

Available soon

In Redmond, you don’t reveal exactly what technology is behind it. However, it can be assumed that the function makes the use of artificial intelligence. The translation tool can now be tested by insiders in the current Canary Build and should be available for all EDGE users next month.
