Microsoft will launch its Olympia Corp. project. set up in a few weeks. This was a testing ground for innovations in the Windows division’s enterprise products. Little is known about the reasons so far. So far there are simply no further statements on the subject from the official side – not even at the request of several editors in the US. The project’s closure is largely thanks to Chris Gahlsdorf, who holds Windows Insider Most Valuable Professional (MVP) status.
This resulted in a corresponding information email from Microsoft to the members of the program, according to one of them ZDNet Report: providing. “We are sending you this email to inform you that we will be formally terminating the Olympia program in one month. We will revoke Olympia licenses and remove the Olympia feedback path,” it reads. The addressees were also asked to save their own data by 12 September at the latest. Because, if the Olympic licenses expire, they may no longer be accessible.
Microsoft started the Olympia program in 2017 and has been called “Olympia Corp.” since 2018. The goal was to find more testers for the Business Products Insider program within the Windows development department.
The motivation to spend time on this is usually lower for users in the business environment than for private enthusiasts, since operating hours and therefore also financial resources have to be used here. Microsoft never disclosed how many participants the program actually had. So it’s hard to say whether it’s being discontinued due to a lack of interest or because Redmond has found better ways to get feedback from business users.
