After the security updates, Microsoft is now distributing new drivers and firmware for the Surface Laptop 3. The updates improve general stability and compatibility – a problem with a faulty system bug check has also been fixed.
The new updates are now available for Surface Laptop 3 owners. The new firmware brings bug fixes and general stability improvements and is therefore recommended to all users. Microsoft also addressed an annoying bug that triggered a system bug check. According to Microsoft, there are currently no known problems.
Surface updates are only released gradually – this means that not every Surface will be offered the update at the same time, but it will be delivered to all devices one by one.

To force the download, go to Settings (Start/Settings) to search for Update & Security and click on “Check for Updates“. It is important to note that firmware updates cannot be uninstalled or rolled back to an earlier version. The updates are also cumulative. When the latest update is installed, any previous updates that are not yet installed will also be downloaded and installed. After the update, the device has to be restarted to complete the installation process.
The following updates are available for Surface Laptop 3 devices with AMD processors that are running Windows 10 May 2019 Update, version 1903 or later.
