Microsoft Introduces New Eye Contact Feature In Surface Pro X Via Firmware Update

Microsoft has released new firmware updates for the Surface Pro X and the Surface Book 2. The new updates bring some improvements and bug fixes. The Surface Pro X also gets a new function, the new eye contact feature.

The new firmware has been released for owners of Surface Book 2 and Surface Pro X. As is so often the case with firmware or driver updates, the details of the updates are unknown. It is interesting, however, that Microsoft has now submitted a new feature for the Surface Pro X. Several updates address the Windows eye contact function. This means that during video chat it always appears as that you are looking directly at the camera and not at the display or anywhere else, provides your more comfortability while maintaining eye contact. Microsoft had promised this function several times for the ARM-controlled Pro X tablet and has now started it as an update.

Additional updates for the Surface Pro X address Windows Hello, battery management, and performance issues related to Edge. The updates for the Surface Book 2 do not bring anything new. The updates serve to improve and fix errors. According to the support, all new updates are available for devices on which at least the Windows 10 May 2019 update, version 1903, or higher is running. The new firmware brings bug fixes and general stability improvements, as well as security-relevant changes and, is therefore recommended to all users.

Little details about the update content

However, as is so often the case, details of the changes are only given superficially in the support documents and the update history; only brief information is available. There are currently no known problems. Surface updates are released in stages – so not every Surface will get the update at the same time, but it will be rolled out to all devices one by one.
