Microsoft Kaizala is shutting down, users need to switch to teams
Microsoft is discontinuing the messenger Kaizala, which started as a Microsoft Garage project. That made the company surprisingly known. In 2019, the group integrated Kaizala into Office 365, now that Messenger is back, users can move to teams. Again, a former Microsoft Garage project is halted despite its success: this time it reaches the messenger Kaizala.
The Kaizala service has been developed in 2017 as an alternative to the existing messengers with a focus on business use. Accordingly, there were also some rather special features that were initially developed for Kaizala and then made their way to, say, Microsoft teams. Kaizala offers polling tools, task management, meeting invites, location sharing, and more. There are separate apps for Android and iOS and a web app.
Microsoft has confirmed that it will Close the Kaizala platform and will migrate all its users to Teams. The transition has already started, but the platform will not officially retire until next year. So there is still time before the project will be history. According to the announcement, the service will close on August 31, 2023.
Notification from Microsoft
Microsoft Kaizala will be phased out on August 31, 2023. We recommend upgrading to Microsoft Teams to continue to connect, share, and collaborate. After the expiration date, access and support for Kaizala will be discontinued.
Microsoft has now informed its partners about the end of the offer. That doesn’t come as a complete surprise, at least there was hardly any news for Kaizala and the focus has been on teams for a long time. Support for the Kaizala messaging platform and access to the service will end in September 2023. New users of the service will no longer be admitted. All new users are directed to the Teams platform, which offers chat, meetings, and calls.
