Microsoft Launches Defender for Google Cloud Platform

Microsoft has announced that “Defender for Cloud” protection is now also launching native protection for Google Cloud Platform environments. This ensures threat detection and security alerts across all clouds. This serves the majority of customers as many businesses rely on a hybrid cloud system. “Defender for Cloud” is Microsoft’s security solution that monitors cloud services for threats, makes recommendations to improve the security situation, and detects and alerts vulnerabilities in protected multi-cloud and hybrid environments.

So far, however, there have been restrictions on which cloud offerings the group can support. Now, with the Google Cloud Platform, or GCP for short, another great partner is coming. Just a few weeks ago, Microsoft announced native multi-cloud support for Amazon AWS at the Ignite 2021 conference. Microsoft Defender for Cloud

“We are pleased to announce today that Microsoft Defender for Cloud now supports Google Cloud Platform with its native CSPM and CWP capabilities without any reliance on Google 1st party tools,” said Gilad Elyashar, Microsoft Partner Group Program Manager, to present the launch new support. Defender’s cloud offerings are the same across all platforms.

Support for GCP provides a simplified onboarding experience, 80+ out-of-the-box recommendations to protect your environment, and more. This provides organizations with out-of-the-box suggestions from Defender that make it easier to configure GCP environments that adhere to security standards such as the Center for Internet Security (CIS).

Following the launch of AWS and GCP support, enterprises can now get a quick overview of the security health of their multi-cloud environment with Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) with Defender for Cloud – all viewed from one place in the Defender for Cloud portal. With GCP support, Microsoft is now the only cloud provider with native multi-cloud protection for the industry’s top three platforms. You can find more about this in Microsoft Security Blog.
