Microsoft lists requirements for Android apps running on Windows 11

Microsoft has now commented on the system requirements following the release of the latest Windows 11 updates and the Amazon AppStore app in the Microsoft Store. If you run Android apps on the PC, you have to meet higher requirements than for Windows 11.

Even though it was not yet possible in Germany to run Android apps on the PC desktop with the new Windows 11 function, that is one thing interesting news. Because now it’s clear: there are certain hardware requirements for using Android apps to work (via Windows Latest After the release of the Amazon AppStore and the Windows 11 KB5010414 update, Microsoft has expanded the support area of ​​the Website has a list of the minimum requirements published for the hardware used. The list also includes the recommended requirements.

Microsoft’s Android Beta Support FAQ site lists important requirements that a device must meet in order to run mobile apps correctly.

2X memory needed

These requirements are higher than those for Windows 11 itself and are not just identical. Therefore, the regulations must be followed carefully. Specifically, you’ll need a device with Windows 11 version 21H2 or newer, at least 8 GB of RAM (as opposed to the 4 GB required for Windows 11 itself), and a processor officially supported by Microsoft. Also, the virtual machine platform feature must be enabled on the Windows Optional Features page and Settings app.

List of all requirements

  • RAM: 8 GB (minimum) and 16 GB (recommended)
  • Storage Type: Solid State Drive (SSD)
  • Processor: The device must meet Windows 11 requirements i.e. Core i3 8th Gen, Ryzen 3000, Snapdragon 8c or higher
  • Processor type: x64 or ARM64
  • Platform for Virtual Machines: This optional setting is for virtualization and you must enable the setting in Control Panel

You will then need an Amazon account for the Amazon AppStore itself. After the test phase, the Microsoft Windows subsystem for Android has only been launched for users in the US. It is not yet known when the opportunity will also come to Europe.
