Microsoft Package Manager Will Soon Have Uninstall Option

The Redmond company Microsoft presented a new package manager for Windows 10 last year. The tool can be used to download apps from the command line. So far, however, the program has not been able to uninstall packages.

However, that should change soon. The developers of the tool, which is also known as “Winget”, are working on adding an uninstall feature to the program. With the function, it will be possible to remove apps from the PC by command. All you have to do is enter the command “Winget uninstall” and the appropriate package name.

As per reports, the uninstall function was recently introduced by the developer Demitrius Nelon. According to him, the new command should be able to uninstall not only apps but all programs available on the computer. The current status of the implementation can be followed on the GitHub page of the project.

No release date known yet

It is still unclear when the extension will be integrated into the Windows Package Manager with the Uninstall command. There is no official schedule or release date.

The developers are currently also working on other features for the tool. In the near future, there will be a settings menu that can be called up via a command. In addition, it should also be possible to install apps from the Microsoft Store at some point. In addition, there will be an option to update apps and a command to list all installed applications in the future. The open-source tool can be downloaded and tried out from this GitHub repository.
