Microsoft Releases Important Security Update For Windows 7

Microsoft has also released a new security update for Windows 7 on the monthly Patch Day in October. The regular support has already expired, now there is only the Extended Security Update (ESU).

Nothing is known about the changes in this update. Microsoft has launched a series of new updates for users of the old operating systems for general patch day on the second Tuesday of the month in October 2021. The updates are recommended to all users, as the vulnerabilities allow security functions to be circumvented, disclose information, and lead to elevation of authorizations.

Only a few details known about the update

Details of the vulnerabilities have not yet been released for all versions. As before, the security updates for Windows 7 are only available via the Windows Update Catalog and WSUS.

Important: Customers who have purchased the Extended Security Update (ESU) for local versions must follow certain procedures to continue receiving security updates after the extended support ends on January 14, 2020. For more information, see KB4522133. From January 15, 2020, a full-screen notification will appear describing the risk of continuing to use Windows 7 Service Pack 1 after the end of support on January 14, 2020.
