Microsoft rolls out a hotfix to fix some in-game crashes

Microsoft has just released a new patch for Windows 11 that will mainly fix two issues users were facing: update errors and in-game crashes.

After the current version of Windows 11 introduced issues with update errors and crashes in several video games, Microsoft has finally rolled out a new fix. This update, called KB5014668, is not part of Patch Tuesday and is therefore not required. However, it is now available for those who encounter bugs or performance issues.

One of the new features is a fix for issues that could cause some games to crash when using the XAudio API to play sound effects. This cumulative update also fixes an issue “which could cause an upgrade to Windows 11 (original version) to fail”. Finally, there is also a bug that can prevent Bluetooth from reconnecting certain audio devices after a device restart, and another that causes Windows 11 (original version) to stop installing applications without a network connection.

HOW TO INSTALL THE LATEST WINDOWS 11 UPDATE

As usual, we recommend that you download and install this new build, if only to make sure everything works fine on this PC. Here is the procedure to follow:

  • Type Win + I to open the Settings
  • See you in the section Windows Update
  • Press the button Check for updates and wait for build KB5008353 to appear on the screen
  • click on Install now and let your pc do it

It should be noted that this new patch KB5014668 on Windows 11 is also available on Windows Server 2022 under the name KB5014665, and on Windows 10 version 1809 under the name KB5014669. Once the update is downloaded under Windows 11, your build number will be changed to 22000.778. If you still have not installed Windows 11, we remind you that new operating system ISOs are available for download. Some have even been lucky enough to receive the new update when their PC is officially incompatible.
