Microsoft had announced that it would not release any optional updates after patch days this month. But what the group is working on, we are already finding out through a new version in the beta channel of the insider program.
An update for Windows 11 is now available there. The innovations are limited, at least no innovations are explicitly mentioned in this update. All changes come with bug fixes or improvements.
The Windows team offers the Windows 11 Insider Preview as Build 22621.1028 and Build 22623.1028 (Windows 11 Version 22H2 aka Version 2022). The changes are already noted in the knowledge base as KB5021866. There is no publication there yet.
Among the improvements in this new version is that users of the tablet-optimized taskbar can now more easily expand the taskbar without going to the start menu. Major bug fixes include fixing Microsoft Explorer crashes and fixing taskbar display issues. As always, you can find details about the update in the Windows blog.
By the way, it also says that the big December bug hunt has started and users should report their problems. As always, those who participate can receive an award. Normally, this update from the beta channel would have been released as an optional update for all users in the coming weeks.
In December, however, everything is a little different. Due to the upcoming holidays, Microsoft is saving the C updates this month and will only start something new to try out on patch day in January. At least that’s the plan at the moment.
