Mobile Malware Is Stealing Your Money, Disguised As A User-Friendly App

Xafecopy Trojan, a malware has been detected on mobile phones that is used to steal money from our phones. The malware was spotted by a firm known as Kaspersky. As per the report from the firm, more than 40% of malware target is from India.

The report stated “Kaspersky Lab experts have uncovered a mobile malware targeting the WAP billing payment method, stealing money from victims’ mobile accounts without their knowledge. Xafecopy hit more than 4,800 users in 47 countries within the space of a month, with 37.5 per cent of the attacks detected and blocked by Kaspersky Lab products targeting India, followed by Russia, Turkey, and Mexico”.

The malware uses apps like Battery Master to disguise itself. When the user will download it considering the app to be user-friendly, then it installs the malware in the device that makes your phone vulnerable. Malware starts to click on web pages via Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) billing. It is a payment method that charges all costs to user’s mobile phone bill. Then secretly the malware subscribe user’s phone to a number of services. It uses a certain code to fool ‘captcha’ system codes.

So the warning is given to Android users especially to avoid downloading apps from Play store.
