Musk Planning Twitter Video App For Smart TVs

Twitter boss Elon Musk has announced that a new app for smart TVs will be released soon. With the software, it is possible to watch videos published on the social media platform. Whether the app can compete with video services like YouTube remains to be seen.

After a 97-minute interview between Elon Musk and British rapper Zuby was posted on Twitter, a user suggested that the content shared via the short message service could be viewed via a dedicated TV app in the future. Elon Musk has responded to the comment and confirmed that there will be such an application in the future.

No further details about the upcoming Twitter TV app

However, the entrepreneur has not yet given any further details. It is therefore unclear what the app will look like and when the program can be downloaded. It also remains unclear whether the service can be used free of charge or whether a paid Twitter Blue subscription is required. The separate app could result in the platform becoming more video-centric. Twitter could later also compete with other social networks such as TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube.

So far, only assumptions can be made about the enforceability of such a service. Currently, Twitter videos can be viewed on smart TVs using Apple TV or Amazon Fire TV. Users with an Xbox or Android TV can also open Twitter in the web browser and play videos there as usual.
