Netflix is best known and loved for its series productions, with films having been less fortunate so far. But the streaming provider does not want to give up this format and has announced a real offensive for 2021. Netflix wants to convince not only through quantity but also through quality. The most important films were presented in a trailer.
The streaming portal has invested a lot of money in in-house productions over the past few months and years and it has more than paid off in the area of series. Because you could not only convince critics but also viewers. With feature films, however, you had a less-fortunate hand. Because although stars like actor Ryan Reynolds and Avengers directors Anthony and Joe Russo have been hired – with a few exceptions, the Netflix blockbusters could not convince.
But Netflix is not giving up and has now announced around 70 films for 2021 – more than Disney and Warner Bros. combined. This means that you will be releasing at least one new original film every week.
It will likely be even more, as Netflix will buy more productions later this year. Of course, this is partly due to the fact that many films are currently unable to appear in theatres because of the pandemic and their makers (have to) turn to streaming providers because of money worries.
