Nintendo advises not to play during heat waves

Through the Twitter account of the manufacturer’s Japanese division, Nintendo invites users not to play with their Switch if the temperature rises above 35°C, both outside and inside the house. It is possible that the console switches off automatically when it overheats.

As you may know, we are currently busy with a period of the heat wave. Météo France has also highlighted seven French departments, including Haute-Garonne, Tarn-et-Garonne, Lot-et-Garonne, Gironde, Ardèche and Drôme. “An episode of strong heat sets in the south of the Garonne and in the lower Rhone valley. It is not surprising that these high temperatures can have a strong impact on the functioning of our electronic devices, such as our PCs or our game consoles.

Nintendo warns Switch users about high temperatures

To avoid possible damage from overheating, Nintendo just warned Switch users via the Twitter account of the manufacturer’s Japanese division. In particular, the current high temperatures can ensure that the console switches off automatically. “Using the Nintendo Switch in a warm place can cause the temperature of the main unit to rise.

Use it in a place where the temperature is between 5 and 35°C. If the air inlet and outlet are blocked, the temperature of the main unit may rise. Improve airflow around the intake and exhaust ports,” Nintendo advised on the social network. The manufacturer adds that “if the temperature of the central unit gets too high, it can automatically go to sleep to protect the main unit”. In addition, BigN invites players to use a vacuum cleaner to remove foreign objects and dust from the air inlets/outlets to ensure optimal cooling. In July 2021, Nintendo had already warned users about the possible effects of heat on the Switch.
