Nintendo Switch Online To Get SNES Games

Nintendo extends the SNES offer in the Switch online service by four more retro titles. From March 28th, the strategies of Koei Tecmo bring to various historical epochs – from Japanese Sengoku times to the Chinese.

Nintendo is expanding its retro game offer: From March 28, 2025, four strategy-heavy SNES titles will be available in the Nintendo Switch online service. The newcomers come from the Japanese developer Koei Tecmo and are characterized by their complex game mechanics and historical scenarios.

Two titles from the Nobunaga series

With “Nobunaga’s ambition” and its successor “Nobunaga’s ambition: Lord of Darkness”, players can immerse themselves in the turbulent Sengoku period (1467-1615). The games are based on the historical conquests of the Japanese general Oda Nobunaga, who is considered one of the three Reich-Einiger Japan and contributed significantly to the end of the Sengoku period.

Complex strategy for water and land

“Romance of the Three Kingdoms IV: Wall of Fire” puts players in the time of the Chinese three Reiche (220-280 AD). The round -based strategy game offers 38 different historical rulers, a complex diplomatism system and detailed siege mechanics.

Players not only have to command armies, but also keep an eye on the administration of their provinces. “Uncharted Waters: New Horizons”, on the other hand, offers maritime strategy in the age of discoveries. As one of six different protagonists – including Portuguese explorers and Ottoman dealers – players travel to the world’s oceans of the 16th century. The game combines commercial, discovery and combat mechanics with a detailed economic system.

Service change and availability

While the four strategy games are expanding the catalog, subscribers also have to cope with an exit: “Super Soccer” will be removed from the service on March 27. A regular Nintendo Switch online membership is sufficient to access the SNES games-the expansion pack is not required.
