Nokia claims that the new state-of-the-art lab will facilitate research efforts in different 6G-related fields. According to the company, it will help speed up the development of different technologies, including Network Exposure, Automation, and Network as a Sensor. In this way, the future needs of industry and society will be met.

The company explained the “Network as a Sensor” technology in a press release. Notably, this technology monitors the movement of objects and people without requiring on-board sensors. In this way, the physical and digital worlds are merged. For instance, the wireless network of your phone will be able to detect movement around you and communicate it to you.

This gives you the ability to look around corners and get closer to far-off people and objects in the actual world. In Bengaluru, Nokia’s new 6G lab will also offer “an innovative platform for exploring algorithms, privacy, and sustainable system design.” The business joined the Next G Alliance as a founding member. It also necessitates active involvement in a number of regional and international 6G programs.
