Nokia To Sell 4K TVs In Europe Soon

The Finnish manufacturer Nokia was and is best known for its smartphones, but the company has also been selling televisions since last year. It started on the Indian market, but sales will soon also be launched in Europe.

Nokia started selling TVs in India about a year ago, but mind you, these are not devices that Nokia builds itself – or at least the company that still officially bears this name. Because in the case of televisions, the well-known brand is “loaned” to a third-party manufacturer, much like the license deal with HMD Global on the smartphone market.

Specifically, in the case of TV sets in India, this means the online retailer Flipkart, an Indian subsidiary of the US giant Walmart. However, and now things get a little confusing, HMD Global is responsible for Nokia TVs in Europe. In other words: Nokia is not all Nokia is not being Nokia.

Six different sizes

According to the reports, there will be several variants, more precisely models with diagonals of 43, 50, 55, 58, 65, and 75 inches. The Android TV-based televisions, however, have to be assigned to the entry-level segment, since most of the TVs offer brightnesses of 320 cd / m2 (the 65-inch model offers 350 cd / m2). All devices offer a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels, i.e. 4K or Ultra HD. HDR10 and Dolby Vision are also supported. The viewing angle is 178/178, plus micro-dimming, UHD upscaling, and dynamic noise reduction.

Perhaps the most interesting information is missing, however, because it is not yet known exactly when the devices will start and, above all, what they will cost. But if you take the Indian Nokia devices as a benchmark (which doesn’t necessarily make sense), the 43-inch model costs 23,000 rupees (the equivalent of 265 euros) and the 65-inch model just under 700 euros.
