Now You Can Use Your Samsung Galaxy Smartphone As A Digital Car Key

Samsung smartphones are getting even smarter than ever. The company is digitizing your car keys and incorporating them with their smart devices. Thanks to the UWB technology, Samsung users can now unlock, lock, and start their cars using their smartphones.

The revolutionary UWB technology is a short-range, wireless communication protocol that uses radio waves to work in a similar way as do Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. The UWB is relatively stronger and sends radio waves at a much higher frequency. That makes it more accurate and better performing.

With this technology, Samsung users can lock and unlock the car, start the engine, open the trunk, and activate their personalized settings through the smartphone. You can also share this digital key if you’re lending your car to anyone. You can also set a time limit on how long the shared key will work.

This technology will be initially available to the company’s homes users only and will be available in NFC and UWB with the Genesis V60 luxury electric vehicles. The technology will be available to Samsung users in South Korea by the end of this year. Samsung also announced that the UWB digital car key will work with Galaxy S21+ and UltraNote 20 Ultra, and Z Fold 2 and 3.
