Nvidia Reportedly Working On AI-Optimised Drivers

The graphics card manufacturer Nvidia is said to be currently working on GPU drivers that use AI optimizations. Up to 30 percent better gaming performance could be achieved with an update. So far, however, Nvidia has not announced the performance boost.

In addition to the hardware itself, the drivers used with graphics cards also have a major impact on how the GPU performs in practice. Therefore, Nvidia could soon equip its software with AI optimizations. If a rumor spread via the CapFrameX Twitter account turns out to be true, it is conceivable that the revised drivers will see the light of day in the first quarter of the new year.

While a maximum performance increase of up to 30 percent can be achieved, an average of ten percent more performance is said to be achieved. It remains to be seen whether the improvements will only be limited to the GeForce RTX 40 series or whether older models will also benefit from the AI-optimized drivers. According to the team behind the analysis tool CapFrameX, AI algorithms could be used to make improvements in the areas of instructions, throughput, utilization, threading, and settings, among other things.

Optimized profiles have been available for a long time

Of course, it remains to be seen how the AI-optimized drivers will hold up in practice. Some bugs could still appear, especially in the initial phase. Users already have the option to select profiles for numerous games provided via GeForce Experience. A large database is used for this purpose. Other GPU manufacturers such as AMD already offer such optimizations.
