Nvidia RTX 4080 Benchmark Score Soars
If the market launch of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080 is not expected until November, the first benchmarks can already be seen in advance. The 16 GB variant of the Ada Lovelace graphics card completes various 3DMark tests with new record values, which is significantly ahead of the RTX 3090 Ti.
If Nvidia has its way, the eyes should currently be primarily on the new RTX 4090, which is scheduled for release on October 12th. But from the Asia Chiphell forum (via Videocardz) we are now getting the first performance values of the GeForce RTX 4080, which is much more interesting and above all “affordable” for many gamers. The most powerful offshoot with 16 GB of GDDR6X graphics memory completed the synthetic gaming course of the well-known benchmark tool 3DMark.
Impressive performance with a slight aftertaste
Record-breaking for a single graphics card, the high-end GPU delivers 17,465 points (Fire Strike Ultra), 13,977 points (Time Spy Extreme), and 17,607 points (Port Royal). The additional performance compared to the previous flagship, the RTX 3090 Ti, is between 18 and 30 percent, depending on the 3DMark scenario.
The RTX 4080 leaves the integrated benchmark of Shadow of the Tomb Raider at a 4K resolution (2160p) with an average of 128 FPS, which corresponds to a plus of 23 percent over the RTX 3090 Ti. According to the leaks, the graphics card used for the benchmarks delivers a boost clock of 2505 MHz along with 76 Compute Units (CU) and theoretical performance of 53.67 TFLOPs.
The possible 16 GB version of the RTX 4080 is at least close to the technical data that Nvidia published in the course of the Ada Lovelace announcement. However, it is questionable how the leakers got hold of a suitable Nvidia driver at such an early stage. Despite realistic results, these should be viewed with a certain degree of skepticism.
Officially, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080 will appear in variants with 12 GB and 16 GB of video memory in November. The “real” RTX 4080 will cost around 1469 euros. The slimmed-down model, which would be more like an RTX 4070 with 12 GB, is said to be around 1099 euros.
