ONE Start-up Helps Tesla to Reach 1,200 km Mark

An e-car start-up from Michigan in the USA is now using its new battery technology to show what range is possible with its new battery. To do this, they retrofitted a Tesla with their “Gemini battery” and then drove over 1200 kilometers in the road test. The e-car start-up “Our Next Energy”, in short ONE, is supported, among others, by the German automobile giant BMW.

ONE is now showing in a demonstration how powerful the start-up’s experimental battery is. ONE has retrofitted a Tesla Model S for this purpose. The vehicle normally has a 103.9 kWh battery, whereas ONE has put its 207.3 kWh battery in the same room there.

“The ONE Gemini battery aims to remove the range as an obstacle to the introduction of electric vehicles by doubling the available energy on board with the same installation space,” said the announcement of the results of the test drives Inside Eevs reported.

ONE Even Reached 1,400 kilometers on the test

The Tesla Model S completed a road test with the prototype of the ONE battery in Michigan at an average speed of 88 km / h (55 mph) in mid-December. The test car reached 752 miles on a full battery charge, i.e. over 1,200 kilometers. The Model S was later tested on a dyno at a speed of 55 mph and even achieved a range of 882 miles (1,419 km) on one battery charge.

“We want to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles by eliminating the range fear that still holds most consumers back today,” said Mujeeb Ijaz, founder, and CEO of ONE. “We are now focused on developing this proof-of-concept battery into a new product called Gemini that enables long-distance travel on a single charge while improving cost and safety using sustainable materials.” So far, the industry’s approach to solving the range problem has been to set up more charging stations, because powerful batteries are very expensive.
