OnePlus 9 Pro Official Images Exposed

OnePlus 9 Pro

OnePlus wants to celebrate the premiere of its two new flagship smartphones of the OnePlus 9 series in around two weeks. We have already found official marketing renders that allow a closer look at the new devices with Hasselblad cameras.

With its 6.7-inch display, the OnePlus 9 Pro 5G will initially be the absolute top model in the growing smartphone portfolio of the Oppo offshoot, OnePlus. As before, the device offers a front camera in the top left of the display and a display that is rounded to the rear.

Focus on Hasselblad partnership

Unlike Samsung, for example, OnePlus is sticking to arching the OLED display backwards, at least in its top model. Of course, the camera module on the back, which was developed with the support of the Swedish high-end camera specialist Hasselblad, is particularly noticeable.

The focus is on the Sony IMX766 and the Sony IMX789, two extremely powerful camera sensors, each with so-called FreeForm lenses and 50 or 48-megapixel resolution to ensure optimal images. In addition, there are two other sensors about which little is known so far. Laser autofocus also seems to be part of the equipment here.

Of course, the notification slider and the metal frame, which, as before, are intended to ensure calm and a high-quality appearance on the one hand, are also striking. The OnePlus 9 Pro will initially be launched in the colors black, green and silver, with the black version in particular, a variant that is very popular with OnePlus fans and with at least an optically structured surface is returning.

OnePlus 9 5G with plastic instead of the metal frame?

With the OnePlus 9 5G, the manufacturer naturally cuts back the equipment and design a little. The 6.5-inch display is kept completely flat, even if the edges of the glass cover also appear curved back in the 2.5D design. Overall, the display edges on both devices seem to be a bit wider this year than before – although this could simply come from a more realistic representation of the marketing images.

The OnePlus 9 also seems to bring another change with it, although this is not yet certain. For example, the manufacturer apparently dispenses with the case with its metal frame, which is otherwise common with its predecessors, in its cheaper flagship model.

In any case, no “antenna bands” on the OnePlus 9 can be seen on our extremely high-resolution marketing images. With the OnePlus 9 Pro, however, these unique features can be seen very clearly. With the omission of a metal frame, there is also a question of whether, as in the case of the cheaper versions of the Galaxy S21 from Samsung, no glass cover is used on the back of the case. But this is not yet certain either.

The OnePlus 9 also features a clearly recognizable Hasselblad logo on the back of the camera module with three sensors, which is intended to emphasize the new partnership with the camera manufacturer. We do not yet know whether the same camera sensors will be used for the main and ultra-wide-angle cameras.

Unlike the Pro model, the “normal” version of the OnePlus 9 also has a glossy back, which is available in black, blue and purple. Further details on the technical equipment apart from the camera sensors and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Octacore SoC under the hood, which is considered “guaranteed”, are as little known as details on pricing.
