Today the time has come: Paramount+ is the next big streaming service, giving Netflix, Disney+, and Co. serious competition. The new offering is primarily of interest to Star Trek fans, but also has plenty of other high-quality content.
From today on, streaming fans in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland are spoiled for choice, or rather even more choice. Because with Paramount+, the next big streaming service is coming to us and also offers a lot of content from the media group, which has recently been called Paramount Global – this was called ViacomCBS until February of this year.
Specifically, Paramount+ offers plenty of original content, as well as a variety of films and series known and originating from Showtime, Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon, Nick Jr., and the Smithsonian Channel.
As mentioned, Star Trek is the flagship of Paramount+, of course, you have (almost) all series on offer that a trekker’s heart desires. On the one hand, there are early productions like The Original Series, and The Next Generation, but also new series like Discovery and Strange New Worlds.
The latter has already been shown in its entirety in the USA; Paramount+ has two episodes to offer at the start of the streaming service, and the rest will be published on a weekly basis. The only series missing is Picard, which is (for now) an Amazon exclusive.
Otherwise, science fiction fans are also offered the Halo series, but many should already know this from Sky. Because Paramount has already cooperated with the subscription broadcaster, which is why Paramount+ is now also included in the cinema package there. Another collaboration concerns Amazon, where Paramount+ is available as a prime channel .
Other series highlights include Yellowstone and the prequel 1883, Yellowjackets, Dexter, Mayor of Kingstown, and From. There are of course movies too, including many classics like The Godfather, The Addams Family, and Pulp Fiction. Paramount+ has saved a premiere for December 22, when Top Gun: Maverick comes to the platform.
Paramount+ costs $7.99 per month, and anyone who opts for an annual subscription gets the service for $79.99, i.e. $6.70 per month. At the start, there is also an introductory offer, namely for $59.99 (about five euros a month). If you want to get an idea for yourself first, you can do so safely, because Paramount+ offers a seven-day trial subscription (which is automatically renewed if you don’t cancel it).
