Starting today, PayPal allows US users to use cryptocurrencies to make their payments. With PayPal’s new “Checkout with Crypto,” users would be able to make their payments.
Last November, PayPal rolled out a feature to directly buy and sell cryptocurrency from their PayPal accounts. With this new feature, US customers can make their payments, which the company would use to complete the transactions. As of now, the company has onboarded Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Litecoin.
Moreover, if a merchant doesn’t accept US dollars, the company will convert dollars into local currency at standard conversion rates set by PayPal.
This new feature will automatically appear in the PayPal wallet if a user has a “sufficient cryptocurrency balance to cover an eligible purchase,” and they’ll be able to see their crypto balances in the app.
Square is already using this feature since 2018. The PayPal competitor supports Bitcoin on the Cash App.
