Phantom Ultimate is the rollable smartphone concept introduced by Tecno

According to some recent pieces of information, Tecno has come forward with a rollable smartphone concept. Notably, it is the company’s latest R&D lab product. The company has named the concept Phantom Ultimate. The display grows laterally, going from 6.55″ to 7.11″ in 1.2–1.3 seconds. With the exception of the folding portion, this second Tecno Idea device is extremely similar to the Vision V.

A single-drive motor system is a part of the Phantom Ultimate. The device expands by pressing the button. The button can be found on the top right side of the phone. It turns into a regular 6.55-inch smartphone upon rolling. The extra portion of the screen resides on the back in the form of an Always-On Display.

Specs of Phantom Ultimate

Phantom Ultimate features a 7.11” On-cell LTPO AMOLED display. It comes with 388 PPI and a 2,296 x 1,596 pixel resolution. It provides complete DCI-P3 color gamut coverage, although it can be challenging to validate such figures on a concept. At the base, the thickness of the device is reportedly 9.3mm. According to Tecno, it can be held in one hand. The sliding area is protected via the addition of a protective glass whereas the back of the device is textured to offer great grip.

Well, this is just a concept. There is no information on whether the Phantom Ultimate will make it to the market or not. There are undoubtedly technological hurdles that must be solved before rollable phones are available, and it is impossible to predict how long that process will take.
