Android devices supporting 64-bit apps also show support for 32-bit apps. As per confirmed by Google in the Android Developers Blog, Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro will be the first Android smartphones to completely support 64-bit apps.

According to Google dropping the support for 32-bit apps hold several benefits. First and foremost, it reduces RAM usage. Additionally, it also improves security as well as performance. In accordance with Google’s opinion in the near future, devices without 32-bit app support are going to be more common. Google took the initial step by extending the support for 64-bit apps with the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro. As Google believes that the Android ecosystem is well-suited for this transition.

As per Google, the latest transition renders a faster configuration. Since 64-bit apps are capable of accessing the instructions and resources unavailable to 32-bit apps. Furthermore, it notifies that modern CPUs can increase their efficiency by up to 25% when they drop the support for 32-bit apps. Furthermore, this configuration has around 150MB of RAM. In spite of the fact that this RAM is used by running 32-bit apps or non-running 32-bit apps.

As of now, developers are ready to begin developing and testing apps as well as updates for 64-bit-only devices. Though, the developer tools for checking the compatibility issues with the new configuration are already available.

Moreover, Google prompted that 32-bit-only devices will show their support for Android TV, Android Wear, and Android Go.
