PlayStation is uplifting the user experience by partnering with Discord – the popular online communication service. The company aims to “bring the Discord and PlayStation experiences closer together on console and mobile starting early next year.”
In a blog post, Jim Ryan, Sony Interactive Entertainment President and CEO, said:
“At PlayStation, we’re constantly looking for new ways to enable players around the world to connect with one another, form new friendships and communities,
It’s in this spirit that we’re excited to announce a new partnership with Discord,
The company’s aim is “allowing friends, groups, and communities to hang out, have fun, and communicate,” with this new partnership. This feature will ultimately reach consoles and mobiles in the next year.
The company has also invested an unspecified amount of money as part of its Series H investment. Ryan was so inspired by Discord’s co-founders Jason Citron and Stan Vishnevskiy, that he decided to invest in the company. The company’s vision is to “help bring friends and communities together in new ways.”
Discord is a popular communication service used primarily by gamers, and it is said that it has an active community of over 140 million as of December 2020.
PlayStation is happy to partner with Discord and says that it would bring more news in the coming months.
