Qualcomm Introduces Snapdragon 7c+ Gen 3for New Entry-level Laptops

At the recent Snapdragon Technology Summit in Kona, Hawaii, Qualcomm introduced a few new chipsets, including the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 for laptops. It’s the first chipset from the company which is built on a 5nm process for Windows PCs. But it wasn’t the only one that came out that day. The company also introduced Snapdragon 7c+ Gen 3 Computer Platform for entry-level laptops.

Unlike the 8cx Gen 3, the 7c+ Gen 3 is built on a 6nm process but still has improved CPU and GPU performance. According to reports, it will offer up to 60% faster CPU performance and 70% faster GPU performance.

The chipset also has support for 5G connectivity for sub 6GHz and mmWave with Snapdragon X53 5G Modem-RF and offers a peak download speed of up to 3.7Gbps. With the Qualcomm FastConnect 6900, the chip also offers speeds up to 2.9Gbps on Wi-Fi 6 and 6E.

Moreover, the Snapdragon 7c+ Gen 3 features Qualcomm Spectra ISP, supporting triple cameras up to 22MP, dual cameras up to 36MP and 22MP, single camera up to 64MP. It also has support for 4K HDR video capture.

The Qualcomm AI Engine on this device enables AI-accelerated experiences through 6.5 TOPS of performance. The chip also has support for Qualcomm Voice Suite for AI-based Echo-cancellation and noise suppression (ECNS) to deliver clear audio.

The Snapdragon 7c+ Gen 3 also supports Microsoft PlayReady 3.0 and some new video streaming services.

New devices premiering this entry-level laptop chipset are likely to launch in the first half of 2022. Miguel Nunes, vice president, product management, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc said on the occasion:

With Snapdragon 7c+ Gen 3, we are raising the bar in the entry-tier by extending 5G mobile computing across ecosystems. Whether for consumers, businesses, or education, Snapdragon compute platforms deliver the capabilities and experiences that our ecosystem customers and end users need.
