US Customers Can Now Order Hyundai From Amazon
Amazon has made good the announcement it made about a year ago that it would soon also be selling cars. At least in the USA, customers there can now easily order a number of different models from the manufacturer Hyundai from Amazon.
Hyundai as the first partner on board
Amazon Autos is now available in the US. The world’s largest online retailer has launched a new platform for selling cars after presenting plans in November 2023. It begins with a partnership with Hyundai and the Korean automaker’s dealers, covering 48 cities across the United States.
Customers can now choose their car from Amazon’s car department, order it, arrange the appropriate financing and even arrange the details for delivery – without having to leave Amazon’s ecosystem. For the time being, the selection is limited to Hyundai brand vehicles.
The car dealers remain sellers
Amazon’s typical simplicity and user-friendliness is now also available for cars, according to the company. Amazon Autos is a new sales channel for dealers through which they can address a broader audience, it said. We are pleased about Hyundai’s participation as the exclusive launch partner of Amazon Autos, but we want to grow further soon with additional brands and a larger selection.
Amazon has already made it possible to look around a car manufacturer’s “showroom” and also compare prices. However, the actual purchase of cars has not yet been possible via the group’s platform. The partnership with Hyundai now completes the puzzle, so to speak. The car dealer remains the seller of the respective car, while Amazon acts as a middleman.
Existing vehicles can even be traded in when buying a new car via Amazon, for which the customer has to answer a series of questions about an old car before an external provider takes over the further processing. To encourage customers to use Amazon as a way to buy a car, the company is also offering a voucher for additional purchases worth $2,300. However, this offer is only valid until shortly before mid-January 2025.
