Report: Samsung declined Apple’s offer to provide OLED panels for the iPhone SE 4

The Cupertino-based tech firm offers the iPhone SE series as a budget-friendly option. It has been several months since we are hearing about the iPhone SE 4. In accordance with the leaked information and CAD images, the upcoming iPhone SE 4 will feature the same design cues as the iPhone 14.

The iPhone SE 4 is expected to feature a 6.1-inch LTPS OLED display with a refresh rate of 50Hz. Furthermore, the smartphone is probably going to continue using a single back camera configuration despite the design change. But the main bone of dispute for Apple is the price of the OLED screens used in the iPhone SE 4. According to reports, Samsung Display offered to supply the panels at a cost of thirty dollars each. However, Apple find it too expensive and rejected the offer.

Eventually, Samsung pulled itself from the negotiation discussions. It is said that the Cupertino-based corporation is looking for a more affordable version that costs $25 per panel. According to reports, Apple is considering BOE, the Chinese manufacturer, for the supply of display panels. Well, the strategy Apple is seeking to adopt for its budget-friendly phone is quite logical and reasonable since it is always the displays that the most expensive component of a smartphone.

The iPhone SE 4 is reported to offer an improved 48MP back camera, a Face ID, and an improved processor. However, the change in display vendors can have an effect on the device’s ultimate retail pricing or production timelines. When the iPhone SE 4 debuts in 2025, Apple is reportedly preparing for a sizable initial production run of about 15 million handsets.
