WhatsApp now has updated controls for playing videos

Last year in November, we learned that WhatsApp was working on some new video features for the app. Reportedly, the company was testing forward and rewind options for videos on the Android platform. To put it simply, the beta version enables users to forward or rewind a video by double-clicking on right or left side of the video.

According to the recent pieces of information, the feature is currently unavailable on Android. However, it has made its way to the stable version of app for iOS. This week, on Monday, the company rolled the version 24.6.77 of WhatsApp for iOS on the App Store. The changelog of the app mentions that users can forward or rewind by double clicking on the edge of the videos.

Double-clicking on the right side of the video will forward the video by ten seconds. Likewise, the video will rewind by ten seconds when the video playback is double-clicked on the left side. This feature gives users more control over video playback.

Currently, there are no details on when this feature will make its way to the stable version of WhatsApp for Android. Given the fact that the video playback controls are now available in the iOS version of the app, we can expect them to arrive to the Android version within the next few weeks.

In a same vein, WhatsApp is aiming to facilitate users’ access to Meta AI within the messaging app, enable voice message transcripts to be read aloud, and provide the ability to share HD images by default.
