RTX 5000 Series Design will be achieved in September

It’s a back and forth with Nvidia’s new graphics cards. First they were supposed to be released at the end of 2024. Then the release was only expected in spring 2025. According to new information, the new RTX series could now be released faster… and consume a little less power.

RTX 5000 series still in progress

Nvidia is currently on everyone’s lips. This is mainly due to the rapid increase in the company’s value to astronomical heights, which is driven by the AI boom. For decades, Nvidia was known primarily among gamers for its graphics cards.

Even though the company is currently mostly focused on artificial intelligence, it is working on the new GPU generation. The Nvidia Geforce RTX 5000 series is based on the Blackwell architecture. Most recently, it was said that the new cards are not expected before spring 2025. As the Chinese technology site Benchlife (via PC Gamer) but now reports that it could go faster.

Maps ready soon

One report states: “If all goes well, the design of the GeForce RTX 5090/D and GeForce RTX 5080/D with the Blackwell GPU architecture should be officially completed in September.” (“D” here refers to the special variant for the Chinese market).

This does not mean that the graphics cards will be on the shelves at the end of September and available for purchase by end users. However, the statement gives hope that the new cards could still be released this year. The RTX 4090 was also released in the fall.

However, Nvidia could also be deliberately holding back the release until next year. Because at the moment there are hardly any games that exploit the performance of the current flagship. It is questionable whether this will change much by the beginning of 2025.

Electricity consumption lower than previously expected

Referring to information from suppliers, it is said that both the RTX 5090 and the RTX 5080 could have a lower power consumption than previously assumed. Instead of 600W, the RTX 5090 is said to be ‘only’ 550W. The RTX 5080 is said to be ‘only’ 350W instead of 400W. This means that the values are still 100W and 30W higher than the predecessors of the two cards.
